According to the most recent reports by Cheshire East Council, road safety in the area remains a concern with 1,969 road accidents being reported in 2019. This figure represents a 7.1% rise from the previous year.

Of the 2019 accidents, there were 64 reported injuries, 23 of which were serious. This is a worrying increase from the previous year's 44 reported injuries, of which 20 were serious. During 2019, there were 219 collisions involving vehicles and pedestrians, of which 6 were classified as serious. The leading causes of road accidents in the area were listed as improper observation, speeding, reckless driving, and fatigue. The highest risk location was uncovered to be junctions on the A51.

The number of road traffic offences recorded in the area during 2019 totalled 3,311 and 5,089 automobiles were stopped for testing during the same period. The police have also employed the use of speed cameras and other advanced detection technology to deter drivers from dangerous driving.
