1 in 3 motorists admit driving without MOT
One in three motorists have admitted that they have driven their cars without valid MOT for as much as six months, a survey has shown.
The survey, conducted by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has revealed that across the country one in three motorists have driven a car knowing that the vehicle has no valid MOT certificate. One thousand motorists were surveyed in conjuction with Yorkshire-based car dealership JCT600. It showed that of those who had committed the MOT offence, two thirds of those admitted to driving a car for up to a week before the retest, 24 percent for up to a month, and 7 percent for up to six months.
