M73

The M73 motorway is an A-road motorway located in Glasgow, Scotland. It was opened in 1972 and was part of the Edinburgh to Glasgow Improvement Plan. It is three miles long and carries traffic from the A814 Queenslie Junction to the M8.

The M73 has been noted for its high levels of road safety in comparison with other British motorways. An analysis carried out by the Road Safety Foundation in 2017 showed that the M73 scored highest out of all motorways in the UK for its level of safety. It has consistently low accident rates and is one of the safest motorways in the country. The motorway also has a low accident severity rate of just 12%.
