M18
The M18 motorway is a motorway in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, beginning just south of Doncaster and terminating at junction 5 of the M180 near Goole. The route was first proposed in the 1960s, with construction taking place between the mid-1970s and late 1980s.
The M18 has seen an average of over 56,000 vehicles per day in recent years. For its length, it has seen a relatively low number of fatal road traffic collisions according to official figures. A decade-long span from 2006 to 2016 saw 23 fatal collisions, and over the four-year period between 2012 and 2016 saw just 14 fatal collisions. This compares to similar lengths of motorway in the UK, which usually experience around 40 fatalities per decade.
