Open consultation: Renewable transport fuel obligation: addressing multiple incentives
Seeks views on how DfT will address the issue of multiple incentives in the case of the renewable transport fuel obligation and SAF mandate.
This technical consultation identifies and seeks views on the proposals to update the existing legislation for multiple incentives for fuel production under the renewable transport fuel obligation (RTFO).
To prevent fuels and chemical precursors from receiving multiple incentives, amendments need to be made to our current approach to support domestic and international fuel under the?RTFO while ensuring the eligibility criteria remain proportionate and administrable.
The changes to the RTFO would be replicated in the upcoming sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) mandate to ensure these 2 schemes operate consistently.
It includes information on the potential for over-subsidy of fuel as new and existing schemes develop in the?UK?and globally. This will have an impact on all ?UK?fuel suppliers.
