French domestic rail services are being severely reduced from Wednesday 12th June until 8am on Friday 14th June, and air traffic controllers also went on strike earlier today, returning on the same day, resulting in the cancellation of hundreds of flights and train services from the UK to French airports. Cross-channel operator Eurostar has said that their services should not affect passengers, although those wanting connecting rail services on the continent could be delayed or cancelled. Passengers can exchange their ticket for alternative dates within a two month period. British air operator British Airways have announced 'significant cancellations' on their services flying to Charles de Gaulle, Toulouse, Lyon, Orly and Nice airport, with other operators being asked to cancel as many as 50% of their flights in the next three days due to the French strike. BA have asked customers to get in touch to discuss their options and alternative flights. A spokesman for BA said, "Not only will there be cancellations to French flights but due to the large geographical area that France spreads, there will be delays across Europe." Passengers using other flight operators should contact their airline to discuss alternative flights.
