Two lorry drivers have been arrested by police on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving on London's orbital motorway, the M25. Eight vehicles were involved in the motorway pileup, which happened near Lakeside shopping centre in Essex at around 12.30pm. The crash, which caused major delays and traffic jams on the M25 during rush hour later that day, meant that police were forced to close the motorway between Junctions 29 and 30, leaving motorists stuck on the M25 for up to five hours in 9-mile tailbacks whilst the casualties were airlifted to hospital. Following the accident, police advised motorists to avoid the area whilst they dealt with the clearup. Two adults and one child were taken to Essex's Basildon Hospital, although their injuries were not reported to be life-threatening.
